Other Religions’ View Of “Human Life” Versus God’s View Of “Human Life”

Other Religions’ View Of “Human Life” Versus God’s View Of “Human Life”

Introduction

Human life—is it precious? Or is it no different from the life of a mosquito? Human life—is it worth living? Or should we just kill whomever we want? Save a human baby? Or sacrifice our children?  From the baby in the womb to the elderly in the nursing home—are they made in the image of God? Or made in the image of an animal?

These are serious questions that impact life or death—perhaps your own one day. Our culture is in dire need of direction. You would think these questions would be easy to answer, but depending on your worldview or religion, the answers can be trickier than you may think.

Religions of the World

To understand how various world religions’ view “human life,” you need to understand religions around the world.  Let’s start with a big picture.

There are ultimately only two religions in the world: God’s and man’s. God’s religion is the truth because God is truth. God revealed the truth to us in His Word. The Word of God, the 66 books of the Bible, is true by virtue of it coming from God who is the truth and absolute authority.

Man’s religion, on the other hand, uses the mind of man, which is naturally rebellious to God since sin (Genesis 6:5; Psalm 14:1–4, 58:3; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 1:28; Ephesians 2:1–3), to attempt to supersede the Word of God. In simplistic terms, it means that man’s opinions are elevated to be greater than God’s Word.  This is humanism in its broadest sense. So the two competing religions are biblical Christianity and human-based religions (humanism).

But there are a multitude of religions floating around in the world, so how can I be so bold as to say there are only two? Simple—humanism breaks down into a multitude of beliefs, or more properly, “sub-religions.”

Humanism breaks into four types of religions that try to compete with biblical Christianity by elevating man’s ideas and demoting God’s Word. And these four break down into further variations.  The four, with examples, are:

·       Materialistic religions—only material exists; no spiritual/nonmaterial [e.g., secularism, naturalism, atheism, agnosticism, modernism, post-modernism, Epicureanism]

·       Spiritualistic religions—these are also called mysticism or transcendent mysticism or Eastern religions where only spirit exists; no material things exist. You are merely deceived into thinking material things exist. These religions include Taoism, Hinduism, Jainism, New Age.

·       Moralistic religions—suggested moral codes, but no absolutes. For example, paganism, Confucianism, witchcraft, Wicca, animism/spiritism, Shinto, ancestor mythologies, Buddhism)

·       Counterfeits of Christianity (something that mimics Christianity but deviates due to someone’s contrary claims (e.g., Jehovah’s Witnesses, Islam, Mormonism, Judaism)

Naturally, these human-based religions break into further subdivisions. But because of the elevation of ideas and opinions of man as the truth, these religions deviate from the absolute truth of God’s Word into arbitrary, and thus false, religions.

View of Human Life

These religions view human life in a variety of ways. Consider the materialistic religions.

Materialistic Religions

With these religions, human life must be defined in terms of materialism.  Life is not material, but to be consistent with that set of religions, it must be redefined.

God is life (John 14:6) and the absolute standard of life and the ultimate life-giver (Genesis 1). Life is not material because life is also part of the purely spiritual realms—consider angels, Satan, and the heavenly host. They are spiritual beings (e.g., Hebrews 1:14) who are living creatures and were created by God (e.g., Genesis 1:1–2:4; Exodus 20:11; Nehemiah 9:6). But they are not part of the material world. This means life is not purely materialistic. This makes sense since God, who is THE life (John 14:6) is also spirit (John 4:24) and not bound to the material world that He created.

Yet the materialists and naturalists (who believe that “nature is all that there is”) must redefine life. They demote human life to being insignificant and definitely not made in the image of God.

Furthermore, they equate human life as indistinguishable from animals or plants or anything else. This is because they generally argue man evolved from animals anyway, which ultimately came from matter like rocks, fluid, and minerals.

Being consistent with this philosophy and since morality is immaterial and shouldn’t exist anyway in this religion, then, if you can kill a rat, you can kill a human. If you can break a rock, then you can break a human. If you can eat a vegetable, then you can kill a human baby—hence the immense child sacrifice we see through abortion today.

Notice how this religious philosophy degrades humanity to nothingness and meaninglessness.

Spiritualistic Religions

The spiritual religions fare no better. In these eastern mystical religions, spirit is all that exists. They are essentially the exact opposite of the materialistic religions. This ultimate spirit is named The Ultimate Reality in Taoism or Brahman in Hinduism or the “cosmic consciousness”, “divine presence”, or “universal energy” in New Age and is the impersonal god with which ‘all is one’.

The universe is not really the universe, and you are not really you in these religions. Instead, you are deceived into thinking that these things are distinct and material. Mystical religions teach that all is one—you are me and I am you and we should stop drawing distinctions so we can enter the final state of being one with The Ultimate Reality, the universal energy, or Brahman.

The illogical aspects of these religions are shocking. Consider how anyone can know anything about the supposed ultimate god, when the impersonal ultimate god cannot communicate to mankind since communication is a personal thing. I’ve yet to have a mystic hand me all their money and say, “Since you are me, here you go.” One cannot live logically in these religions.

And speaking of logic, since all is one, being logical and illogical is one and the same so being logical is irrelevant to these religions. Therefore, they are false.

But what about the mystic’s view of human life? If all is one, then a person is no different from a rock. In Eastern Mysticism, there is still concept of good and bad, although it is arbitrary. It is not revealed by the ultimate being (Brahman, for instance), but instead are arbitrary suggestions from man.

It is presumed that if one does better in this life (by that arbitrary standard), then they climb the karma chain or go down it; but ultimately, it doesn’t really matter. The hope, if this is really hope, is to go back to nothingness or “nirvana.” The human life doesn’t really exist, just Brahman or Ultimately Reality.

With this view, why care about anyone else, even children? If these religions are taken to their logical conclusion, why not just murder people or let them suffer if you want to, since they don’t really exist. Not much of an uplifting view, is it?

Sadly, suffering in these religions are often met with indifference. People just presume that a person must have done something bad in a previous life and they deserve what they are getting. It is far different from the high value of human life as given in the Bible.

Pagan and Moralistic

Moralistic and pagan views have some type of human-built moral code system, though they are clearly arbitrary, since there are so many different views. These “moral codes” are merely suggestions from Buddha or Confucius, ancestors, rulers, or petty, (not very powerful) “gods” like Dionysus, Diana, Baal, Zeus, and so on.

None of the rules are absolute and there really isn’t an escape from personal guilt if you break one. For instance, if you hurt someone and that is deemed wrong in these systems, the gods aren’t going to strike you down. There are no consequences from dead ancestors or false gods and so on. Even so, you still live with guilt of knowing what you did even if you get away with it. This is unlike Christianity where your guilt is even cast upon Christ and his righteousness and purity is ultimately imputed to you.

True justice and consequences are never enacted by the alleged gods if you break one of the rules. In short, rules are just a suggestion, and following these rules really doesn’t matter either—it’s all up to you.

With religions like this, how is human life viewed? Historically, in many of these religions, human life was devalued and even sacrificed. This is true from Baal and Molech worship, to the Druids, to the mythical religions of old. In wicca, voodoo, and witchcraft, there are no qualms about casting people with curses.

In Buddhism, the doctrine of “anatta” or “no soul” is a central concept (essentially a temporary soul, not an eternal soul).  This has repercussions for morality since your temporary soul ends when you die. As some have said, “When you die, you’re done.” Things really don’t matter in the end according to this moralistic-style religion.

Strange how “moralistic” religions really have no basis for morality when you analyze them. Moralistic religions, when taken to a conclusion, are just arbitrary and meaningless without morality. Why does morality really matter in life—and why does human life matter at all in these pagan religions? When it comes down to it, life doesn’t really matter in these religions.

Counterfeits of Christianity

Finally, there are religions that mimic or “counterfeit” Christianity—but then deviate. Religions such as Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Judaism borrow extensively from the pages of the Bible, and most of them agree that the Bible is true with minor asterisks. Basically, they proceed to change the Bible in light of their new alleged revelations and interpretations (how convenient and errant)—which come from man (hence, the humanistic element).

The problem is that they have it back to front. You must use previous revelation to prove your new revelation. This was done by the apostles using the Old Testament to prove the new eternal covenant of the gospel (e.g., Luke 24:32; Acts 17:2, 18:28).  When you use the standard of the 66 books of the Bible to evaluate these alleged new revelations (such as the Book of Mormon, Koran, apocrypha, Watchtower, Talmud, or Papal Proclamations of Infallibility), they fall tragically short.

But where do these counterfeits get their view of human life? Largely from the Bible. They are open about it. This is why many of the people in this group of religions often agree with biblical Christianity’s view of life. However, there are exceptions.

Photo from Presentation Library

One cannot help but recall the bloody history of the early Mormons with their wars in Illinois, Missouri, and Utah in the 1800s. The history of Islam, Christianity’s largest counterfeit cult, is plagued with bloodshed, Jihad (holy wars), a view of Muslim superiority, terrorism, and female degradation. A deviation has indeed occurred from biblical truths regarding the value of human life. The key for these religions is how much of the Bible are they still going to borrow?  I encourage them to borrow all of it.

Interestingly when it comes to human life, one would think the Jews—who rightly proclaim the truth of the Old Testament—were fourth highest on the list of religions that find abortion (child sacrifice) acceptable behind Atheists, Agnostics, and Unitarian Universalists, with Buddhists immediately following them.[1] One would expect the other of these top fives to have a low view of human life, but this surprises many about common Jewish thought on the sanctity of child value and life.

Conclusion

There is considerable difference in the view of human life among religious groups around the world. When we start with God and his Word, man is made in the image of God, is eternal, and has eternal value. The value is extended to people from the moment of fertilization, when a new and unique person is formed.

Relying on humanistic views of human life, human life is almost always demoted. Children in the womb suffer, children suffer, women, elderly, or anyone considered “inferior” for arbitrary and incorrect reasons—everyone ultimately suffers. Many don’t realize why suffering exists (which began with sin in Genesis 3). Many don’t realize that God himself provided a means of salvation in Jesus Christ.

God is the creator of life, giver of life, the reason life has value, and will be the final judge of your life. Because human life has been imbued with special value and meaning by its Creator whose image it bears, to demote it is to go far into error and rebellion against God’s design.

The Results Of Evolution

The Results Of Evolution: Could It Be The Bloodiest Religion Ever?

Bodie Hodge, M.Sc., B.Sc., PEI

Biblical Authority Ministries, April 4, 2025 (Donate)

Christians are often leveled with the claim that “evolution will help society become better.” Is such a statement true?  Even the first Humanist Manifesto, of which evolution is a subset of this religion declared:

“The goal of humanism is a free and universal society in which people voluntarily and intelligently co-operate for the common good.”

Of course, what do they mean by “good” anyway—they are simply borrowing from the teachings of God in the Bible. Regardless, does evolution really teach a future of prosperity? What has been the result of evolutionary thinking in a hundred years or so?  Perhaps this could be a test of what is to come.

Grand Total

758,475,000

This only estimates a few countries when it comes to abortion so this figure is likely very conservative. It accounts for the deaths of over 3/4 of a billion people in one century! Such high figures on a chart seem to cry out that something is wrong with the claim in question! Charles Darwin’s view on evolution began being catapulted into societies across the world in the mid to late 1800s.

Evolution influenced Karl Marx, Leon Trotsky, Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Lenin and many others. Let’s take a closer look at some of these people and events and see the evolutionary influence and repercussions.

World War I, World War II, Hitler, Nazis, and the Holocaust

Most historians would point to the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand on June 18, 1914 as the event that triggered World War I (WWI), also known as the “Great War” or the “World War”.  But the tensions were already high considering the state of Europe at the time. Brewing in Germany was the sentiment of Darwin. Darwin once said:

“At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes . . . will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro or Australian [Aborigine] and the gorilla.”[16]

Darwin viewed the “Caucasian” (white-skinned, European) as the dominant “race” in an evolutionary worldview. In an evolutionary mindset, mankind had evolved from ape-like creatures which were hairier, dark-skinned, dark-eyes, etc.  Therefore, more “evolved” would have been less hair, blond hair, blue eyes etc.  Later in Hitler’s era, Nazi Germany practiced Lebensborn, which was a controversial program, of whose details are not entirely brought to light.  Many claim it was a breeding program that tried to evolve the “master race” further—more on this below.

But the German sentiment prior to WWI, was very much bent on conquering for the purpose of expanding their territory and their “race”.  An encyclopedia entry from 1936 states:

“In discussions of the background of the war much has been said of Pan-Germanism, which was the spirit of national consciousness carried to the extreme limit. The Pan-Germans, who included not only militarists, but historians, scientists, educators and statesmen, conceived the German people, no matter where they located, as permanently retaining their nationality. The most ambitious of this group believed that it was their mission of Germans to extend their kultur, (culture) over the world, and to accomplish this by conquest if necessary. In this connection the theory was advanced that the German was a superior being, destined to dominate other peoples, most of whom were thought of as decadent.”[17]

Germany had been buying into Darwin’s model of evolution and viewed themselves as the superior “race” to dominate the world.  This view set the stage for Hitler and Nazi party to pave the road to the WWII.

World War II dwarfed World War I in total people dead. Racist attitudes exploded in Germany against people groups such as Jews, Poles, and many others. Adolf Hitler was influenced by Darwin’s teaching on evolution.

Hitler even tried to change the protestant church in Germany to change fundamental tenants because of his new found faith. In 1936, while Hitler was in power, an encyclopedia entry on Hitler read:

“An attempt to alter the fundamentals of the German Protestant religion did not succeed.”[18]

A similar entry in the same encyclopedia under Germany says:

“…a Hitler attempt to modify the Protestant faith failed.”[19]

He obviously didn’t hold to the basic fundamentals taught in the 66 books of the Bible. This refutes notions that Hitler was a protestant Christian as some have claimed. Though from his writings he did believe in some form of God early on, but his religious views moved toward humanism due to evolution. Consider his quote in his unpublished second book:

“The types of creatures on the earth are countless, and on an individual level their self-preservation instinct as well as the longing for procreation is always unlimited; however, the space in which this entire life process plays itself out its limited. It is the surface area of a precisely measured sphere on which billions and billions of individual beings struggle for life and succession. In the limitation of this living space lies the compulsion for the struggle for survival, and the struggle for survival, in turn contains the precondition for evolution.”[20]

Hitler continues:

“The history of the world in the ages when humans did not yet exist was initially a representation of geological occurrences. The clash of natural forces with each other, the formation of a habitable surface on this planet, the separation of water and land, the formation of the mountains, plains, and the seas. That [was] is the history of the world during this time. Later, with the emergence of organic life, human interest focuses on the appearance and disappearance of its thousandfold forms. Man himself finally becomes visible very late, and from that point on he begins to understand the term “world history” as referring to the history of his own development – in other words, the representation of his own evolution. This development is characterized by the never-ending battle of humans against animals and also against humans themselves.”[21]

Hitler fully believed Darwin as well as Darwin’s precursors such as Charles Lyell’s geological ages of millions of years. With his statements here there is no reference to God and by this time [dictating this book in 1928] as a sequel to Mein Kampf, Hitler had suppressed any notion of God. Hitler then completely flew the unwitting banner of Humanism and its reliance on naturalism and evolution.

His views of evolution led him and the Nazi party (National Socialists German Workers Party[22]) into WWII because of his and their belief in evolution—viewing the Caucasian as more evolved and taking up Darwin’s claim to eliminate lesser “races”.  Among the first to be targeted were Jews (in Nazi’s opinion), then Poles and many others.  The Holocaust is a reminder of the repercussions of evolution that the Nazi’s inflicted due to their beliefs.

Leon Trotsky/Vladimir Lenin/Joseph Stalin/Mao Zedong/Pol Pot and other communist results

Trotsky and Lenin are both notorious for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (U.S.S.R.) and specifically the communist revolution. Lenin, taking power in 1917, became a ruthless leader and was set to have Trotsky be the heir to his position.  Lenin and Trotsky held to Marxism, which was built on Darwinism and evolution. Karl Marx regarded Darwin’s book as an “epoch making book” and with regards to Darwin’s research on natural origins says:

“The latter method is the only materialistic and, therefore, the only scientific one.”[23]

Marxism was the heavy influence in Communism. However, few realize that Marxism is built on Darwinism! In 1883, longtime friend and collaborator of Marx, Freidrich Engels at Marx’s funeral service stated that,

“Just as Darwin discovered the law of evolution in organic nature, so Marx discovered the law of evolution in human history."[24]

Both Darwin and Marx build their ideologies on naturalism and materialism. Trotsky and Lenin were contemporaries in the Soviet Union after the Russian revolution during WWI, which led to their subsequent treaty with Germany to cease the fight.  Trotsky once said of Darwin:

Darwin stood for me like a mighty doorkeeper at the entrance to the temple of the universe. I was intoxicated with his minute, precise, conscientious and at the same time powerful, thought. I was the more astonished when I read … that he had preserved his belief in God. I absolutely declined to understand how a theory of the origin of species by way of natural selection and sexual selection and a belief in God could find room in one and the same head.”[25]

Trotsky’s high regard for evolution and Darwin were the foundation of his belief system. Like many, it was doubtful that Trotsky realized that the precious few instances of the name “God” did not appear in the first edition of Origin of Species.  It was added later and many suspect that this was done to influence church members to adopt Darwinism. Regardless, it was doubtful that Trotsky read much of Darwin’s second book, the Descent of Man, where Darwin says that man invented God:

“The same high mental faculties which first led man to believe in unseen spiritual agencies, then in fetishism, polytheism, and ultimately in monotheism, would infallibly lead him, as long as his reasoning powers remained poorly developed, to various strange superstitions and customs.”[26]

Darwin also said:

“The idea of a universal and beneficent Creator does not seem to arise in the mind of man, until he has been elevated by long-continued culture.”[27]

Vladimir Lenin picked on Darwinism and Marxism and ruled very harshly as an evolutionist. His variant of Marxism has become known as Leninism (see The development of Capitalism in Russia). Regardless, communist roots by Marx, Trotsky, and Lenin were the foundation that communism has stood…and is standing on.

Perhaps the most ruthless leaders of communism though were Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. Each of these being Darwinists and each ruling three different countries—Soviet Union, China, and Cambodia respectively. Their reigns of terror on their nations show the value of human life being reduced to that of mere animals, a Darwinistic teaching.

Other results of communism are the various wars and conflicts that resulted from communistic and hence, Darwinistic philosophies. Two popular ones are the Korean and Vietnamese sagas. The results of an evolutionary worldview have produced many deaths in about hundred years of communism.

Such evolutionary leaders (including Darwin) had massive changes to their philosophies after succumbing to evolution.  In brief, they were:

 Abortion

The war on children has been one of the quietest and yet bloodiest in the past hundred years. In an evolutionary mindset, the unborn, have been treated as though they are going through an “animal phase”, and can be discarded.

Early evolutionist, Ernst Haeckel, first popularized the concept of that babies in the womb are actually undergoing animals stages such as a fish stage and so on.  This idea has come to be known as ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.  Haeckel even faked drawings of various animals’ embryos and had them next to drawn human embryo looking virtually identical.

Image from Presentation Library

The faked drawings have been shown completely false.[28]  Even Haeckel partially confessed.[29] However, the idea has still been used for hundred years! Textbooks today still use this concept and even museums around the world teach it.

And thorough this deception, women have been convinced that the baby they are carrying in their womb, are simply going through an animal phase and can be aborted.  Author Ken Ham states:

“In fact, some abortion clinics in America have taken women aside to explain to them that what is being aborted is just an embryo in the fish stage of evolution, and that the embryo must not be thought of as human. These women are being fed outright lies.”[30]

Evolutionary views have decreased the value of human life and throughout the world, the casualties of the war on children is staggering. Though deaths of children and the unborn did exist prior to evolution, it has increased many folds as a result of Darwinian teachings.

Conclusion

Does this mean that evolution is the cause of wars and deaths? Absolutely not.  Sin is the result back in the Garden of Eden.[31] But an evolutionary worldview has done nothing but add fuel to the fire.  In the wars and atrocities caused by those who believed evolution in recent times, there is still hope. But of all the atrocities and evils, the silent war on children has grossly outweighed the others and there seems no end in sight.

In Egypt, Israelites boys were slaughtered by being thrown into the Nile at the command of Pharaoh (Exodus 1:20). And yet, by the providence of God, Moses survived and led the Israelites to safety and the Lord later judged the Egyptians.

In Israel under the Roman Empire, Herod the Great commanded to kill the boys under the age of 2 in and around Bethlehem.  And yet, by the providence of God, Jesus survived. And Jesus, the Son of God, laid down His life to bring salvation to mankind as the prince of peace, and Herod’s name went down in history next to that of the name Judas Iscariot.

In today’s day and age, governments readily permit the killing of the children, both boys and girls, and sometimes command it (abortion)…and by Providence, guess who survived…you.  It is time to make a difference—it is time to get back to the Bible and realize the bankrupt religion of evolution lead only to death…and a lot of it.

[29] Haeckel said,  “… a small portion of my embryo-pictures (possibly 6 or 8 in a hundred) are really (in Dr Brass’s [one of his critics] sense of the word) “falsified” — all those, namely, in which the disclosed material for inspection is so incomplete or insufficient that one is compelled in a restoration of a connected development series to fill up the gaps through hypotheses, and to reconstruct the missing members through comparative syntheses. What difficulties this task encounters, and how easily the draughts- man may blunder in it, the embryologist alone can judge.” The Truth about Haeckel’s Confession, The Bible Investigator and Inquirer, M.L.
