The Louvre is the  famous French Museum with fascinating finds from the world over. Like the British Museum in London or the Smithsonian in Washington DC, they are must-visit places if you get the chance.

In the Louvre, there are some dragons, in artwork for instance. These are powerful when you grasp why.

Connections Between Dinosaurs And Dragons

You need to understand that there is a strong connection between dinosaurs and dragons found in ancient legends, ancient artwork, and old historical writings. Dinosaurs were created by God on Day Six of Creation Week along with other land animals, meaning they lived alongside humans from the very beginning. Flying or sea reptiles were created on Day 5.

After the global Flood described in Genesis 6-8, only those dinosaurs and flying reptiles that were on the Ark survived. Over time, due to habitat destruction, changes in climate, hunting by man, and lack of resources, most dinosaur kinds went extinct.

Many cultures around the world have stories and artwork of large, reptile-like creatures called dragons. These descriptions often closely resemble dinosaurs, with features such as long necks, horns, armored with scale or scute-based skin, and in some cases, wings.

Since the word dinosaur was not invented until 1841 by Sir Richard Owen, earlier generations would have called these creatures by a different name—most commonly dragons. Therefore, when the Bible and other historical records speak of dragons, they are likely referring to dinosaurs or dinosaur-like flying and sea creatures that were still alive at that time.

For example, the Bible mentions a creature called Behemoth in Job 40:15–24, described as having a tail like a cedar tree and immense strength, which could describe a sauropod dinosaur. Similarly, the Leviathan in Job 41 is described as a powerful sea creature, possibly a marine reptile.

The widespread dragon legends are actually evidence that humans and dinosaurs (or flying and sea dragons) coexisted. These accounts support the biblical timeline rather than the evolutionary idea that dinosaurs died out millions of years before humans appeared. Dragons were simply what ancient people called real dinosaurs that had survived for a time after the Flood, providing a historical bridge between modern scientific discovery and ancient testimony.

Dragons Of The Louvre

Dragons are found in the two books Treasures of the Louvre (From the Fourth Millennium B.C. to the dawn of the Renaissance)[1] and Treasures of the Louvre (From the Renaissance to Impressionism)[2]. Some of these are fascinating.

Dragons of Kudurru of Melisbipak II, 12th Century BC, Susa, Mesopotamia, (Ref. 1, p. 98).

Meticulous and beautifully-made Blue Chinese Vase brought to France in the AD 1700s during the years of Louis XV with two intriguing four-legged dragons with reptilian tail (Ref. 2, p. 221)

There are others of course, in Christian imagery like the archangel Michael slaying the great dragon (Satan) but what is shown is sufficient. The connection between dragons with other creatures of the same eras shows that those people viewed dragons as real creatures that they saw and utilized in their artwork just like other animals.

These finds are a great confirmation of what we expect to find all over the world in light of the truth of the Bible about dinosaurs and dragons.
